S.O.F.I.A. Welcomes Anthony Smith as Grand Marshal for Annual Walk Against Domestic Violence

S.O.F.I.A. invites the community to join them on Saturday, September 30th for their 13th Annual Walk Against Domestic Violence. Led by Grand Marshal Anthony Smith, a life coach and domestic violence survivor, the event will provide snacks, raffles, and other activities.

Through the walk, S.O.F.I.A. aims to raise awareness, provide support, and reduce the stigma of unhealthy relationships, while funds raised will go towards the S.O.F.I.A. Success Center.

Everyone is welcome to support the cause and work towards a world without domestic violence.

Event Details

The 13th annual Walk Against Domestic Violence, organized by Start Out Fresh Intervention Advocates (S.O.F.I.A.), will take place at Canterbury Park on Saturday, September 30th. Anthony Smith, a life coach and domestic violence survivor, will serve as the Grand Marshal.

This walk is an opportunity to come together and raise awareness about unhealthy relationships, while providing resources for those affected by domestic violence.

Registration, snacks, and raffles will be available from 9-10 a.m., and the walk will begin at 10 a.m. At 11:15-11:45 a.m., there will be a recognition ceremony for the Grand Marshal. The event will conclude with a closing prayer at 12 p.m.

Donations can be made directly to S.O.F.I.A. or virtually through social media posts and live broadcasts.

The Walk Against Domestic Violence is a chance to make a difference and provide support for those affected.

Walk Schedule

Participants can register, grab a snack, and enter raffles from 9-10 a.m., before starting the walk at 10 a.m.

Support & Donations

Start Out Fresh Intervention Advocates (S.O.F.I.A.) relies on the support of community sponsors and donations to achieve its goals of raising awareness and reducing the stigma surrounding intimate partner and domestic violence.

Donations can be made directly to S.O.F.I.A. via PayPal or by sending a check to their PO Box. Those unable to attend the walk can still support the cause by participating virtually through social media posts and live broadcasts. A donation can also be made in honor or remembrance of a loved one.

S.O.F.I.A. uses the funds to provide emergency assistance and to operate the S.O.F.I.A. Success Center, which offers outreach and community programming to those affected by domestic violence.

The event highlights the importance of community involvement and values and encourages action to support those affected.

Goals of the Walk

S.O.F.I.A. seeks to provide resources for emergency needs of domestic violence victims through the #WeCare assistance program. The organization also aims to raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding intimate partner and domestic violence.

Through the Walk Against Domestic Violence, S.O.F.I.A. hopes to bring attention to the issue and support those affected. Funds raised from the event support operational maintenance of the S.O.F.I.A. Success Center, including outreach and community programming.
